Post-Service

After the service, transition smoothly to post-service music, care for the equipment, and prepare for the following week.

2.7.1

Post-Service Music

As the worship team finishes, transition smoothly to post-service background music.

Level Guide

Post-service music should be present and warm, but not intrusive. A good test: stand in the middle of the auditorium and have a normal conversation. If you have to raise your voice, the music is too loud.

Task
Pre-cue the post-service music playlist before the final song ends.
Cross-fade from the live mix to the post-service music as the worship team finishes.
Set the post-service music level so those in the auditorium can hold a conversation without having to speak above the music.
2.7.2

Muting & FOH Speaker Power-Down

Task
Mute all live input channels.
Mute all DCA groups.
Power off the FOH speakers first (always first off).
Fade out and mute the post-service music channel.
2.7.3

Equipment Care & Management

Battery Management

Never start a service with batteries that have already been used. Always use fresh batteries for the service itself. Batteries removed after a service may still have enough charge for sound check and rehearsal the following week — store these separately in the 'Serviceable' container.

Task
Collect all handheld and headset microphones from the stage.
Sanitise handheld and headset microphones with alcohol wipes before returning to storage cases. Handle with care — microphone diaphragms are sensitive.
Remove batteries from all wireless transmitters and IEM bodypacks.
Sort batteries into the labelled containers: 'New' (unused) and 'Discard' (depleted).
Batteries showing serviceable charge should be stored for use during sound check and rehearsal the following week, then replaced with fresh batteries before the service begins.
Return all microphones and accessories to their designated storage cases.
